I'm at a point of transition in my life that is forcing me to examine truths about myself and my work. One question that has resurfaced for me is "Why am I a designer?" The cheeky answer is that I can get paid for being a artist. However, that doesn't quite hit the mark. I am a designer for reason's that I believe are more significant. I'm a designer, because I believe in the power of design. I am a designer because I was created in a way that makes me a designer; and I am a designer because I love that letter, color and form are integral to good communication.
If we believe that design is more than aesthetics, then branding matters, and good branding at that matters even more so. A logo is not a good logo because it's cool, or looks good or is inline with the latest trend. A good logo is a good logo because it communicates, it represents and presents the company appropriately. A good brand is equal parts aesthetics and message.
All that being said, I'm looking for a job as Creative Director. Hire me!
